The core WISER Method is open source. Free to use, adapt, and share with attribution.

Your Templates Are Here.

Every template the WISER Method Master Playbook refers to, free to copy. Use the Notion workspace or the Google workbooks, whichever your team already works in. This site asks for no sign-up and no email; copying the Notion workspace needs a Notion account, and copying a Google workbook needs a Google account.

35 templates, 14 linked databases, and 4 printable reference cards, organized by chapter and Canon. The printable templates and their HTML sources are published under CC BY-SA 4.0 in the open repository. The Notion and Google copies are free for personal use, but they are hosted services and sit outside that license.

Start with Friction Mapping

New to WISER? Start in Witness, with the process everyone complains about.

  1. Watch it run. Sit with the people doing the work and note what they actually do, not what the documentation says they do. Every later step depends on this. Skip it, and everything downstream is speculation.
  2. Map the friction. For each place the work breaks down, write where it happens, what happens, who it affects, how people work around it today, and who showed you.
  3. Measure it. Note how much time each occurrence costs and how many times it happens in a working day. Convert a weekly count or a per-transaction rate to occurrences per day first, then multiply for the daily total.
  4. Rate it. Give each point High, Medium, or Low by its daily total, using the template’s criteria as a starting point and adjusting them to your volume.
  5. Name a hypothesis. Write down why you think each point exists, as a guess, not a finding. Testing those guesses is what Interrogate does next.

The Friction Map is in the Witness set below, in Notion and Google. The printable Friction Map needs no account at all.

Notion and Google templates

The WISER Method Starter Kit is an interactive Notion workspace: linked databases, guided content, and the context of each Play built into every section. Click Duplicate to make it yours. The Google workbooks hold the same templates, one workbook per chapter, with matching structure and validation dropdowns, and need no Notion account.

Reference cards

Single-page PDFs to print and pin to the wall: the frameworks the book refers to most.

Chapter Card What it covers
10 Position Reference Cards The book’s seven Positions at a glance: tensions, decision rights, common role mappings, and dangerous combinations
11 Playbook Quick Reference Playbook structure, maintenance rules, warning signs, and what each Canon adds
13 Experiment Type Selector A decision tree for matching an assumption to one of six experiment types, with durations and prerequisites
16 Iteration Triggers Reference Five iteration triggers, which Canon each sends you back to, and when a minor fix will do

Each template sits beside the Play that uses it in the WISER Method Master Playbook.
